My Past Projects A Walk Down Memory Lane!

Squirgle Blog

Squirgle.png

The first style for my personal site. It was based on a theme that I honestly can’t remember the name of (if you’re reading this then drop a comment and I’ll give you credit) and I was trying to create the impression of pixelation. I think the header turned out quite well, although the sidebar was too thin to really be useful. I used it for a short while, but I eventually struggled to find time to post anything worthwhile and it just kind of sat there until I built myself this lifestream.

HolyChimp Blog

HolyChimp has been many things over the years. For a few months I used it as a tumblog/digg hybrid, the idea being that me and some friends could post photos, videos, quotes and other such fun, and then vote on stuff we liked. Turns out that everyone just used the site for the forums so it never really took off, but it was a fun experiment, and eventually led me to lifestreaming and the wonderful Squirgle that stands before you today.

Gomper.org.uk

A site I built as part of an inside joke regarding Dave being a Gomper. It’s the kind of thing you do when it’s 2am, you’re randomly searching for domain names and you have nothing better to do. It’s nothing special, but I wanted to keep it simple and clean, not to mention quick to build.

It’s mostly a basic custom theme with a few pages set up, as always built in Drupal.

HolyChimp Chat

This was just a quick experiment into creating a simplified social site for a smaller number of users. The idea was that an entire forum is wasted on 10 to 20 users, but instant messaging is a more 1-to-1 experience.

I tried to create something in between the two extremes, and the design was meant to highlight the simplistic nature of the site, removing any options that weren’t required.
